WIPocalypse April 2023 Check-In

Well, I am a little late on my posting, but late is better than never.

If you want to find out more about this lovely SAL, check out Melissa's information.

Each month she asks a question. This month is: Where do I buy my stitching supplies?

I'm super happy that we have a local shop again. It is BeStitchMe , She is known for her hand-dyed linens and threads and also carries cross-stitch charts. I need to get over there as she has a mystery box that I ordered. I will open it up and share it here.

I also shop at Sassy Jack's. I recently received this in the mail from her:

Now to find time to start something!

On to my WIPs!

I finished stitching Blue Larkspur:

I need to hem it, but I'm not sure when I will get to it.

Here is where I am on Pour ta Fete:

Slowly seeing progress.

Drawn Thread Sampler is ready for me to start cutting threads out:

And Shimmering Dreams has a border started:

I have the urge to start a new project and I am trying to resist. We will see if I manage to behave for the month of May.

April Plans

Do you make plans or goals? I make "loose" plans. I try to hit them, but if I don't, I try not to get upset. Stitching is my hobby after all, not a job.

Here is my calendar from March:

I did stitch every day, even if it was only a stitch or two.

My plans for April are to get 500 stitches on my HAED:

Finish this Mill Hill kit that I just started-Bunny Egg:

Finish Blue Larkspur:

There is more to do than it seems. I should amend that I won't fully finish it as that will require a hem stitch...

Get through Lesson 2 on Shimmering Dreams:

I have to put in the rest of the corners.

I also want to get all the non-cut work done on Drawn Thread Sampler by Gay Ann Rogers:

I'm  also starting the second 17th Century Sampler by Thistle Threads and maybe Jane Turner. Hey! I did finish a few projects!

WIPocalypse for March 2023

First, this is a fun SAL to show posts of your WIPs. It is hosted by Melissa over at Measi's Musings.

You can find posts about this SAL on her site or Facebook.

The question of the month is where do you shop?  The real question is where DON'T I shop! I have a new shop in my area called BeStitchedMe , and I have found some nice fabric and threads there.

Sassy Jacks is also a place I frequent along with Needle in A Haystack . Both have a great variety of threads and linens...And Patterns!

This month I tried to stitch on Blue Larkspur by Avlea Folk Embroidery every day as part of the March challenge.

Here is where I started:

And where I finished:

I also finished my Doodle Drawn Thread Sampler by Gay Ann Rogers:

AND the first sampler in my 17th Century Whitework Sampler class by Thistle Threads:

Not a bad month for stitching.

WIPocalypse for February 2023

Well, it is the end of the month and I want to show some progress on my WIP pile.

First, this is the from the mind of Melissa over at Measi's Musings. It is just a way to get encouragement on finishing some of the WIPs we have in our WIP pile.

I managed to finish Love Coffee by Mill Hill:

Which meant I could work on the next Mill Hill bead kit in my pile, Garden Chair:

I also did a bit more on my 17th Century Whitework Sampler:

And a little stitching on Betsy Ross Needlecase:

Blue Larkspur is HUGE, but I am making progress:

And Pour ta Fete has gotten a little attention:

Oh! And Reptiles got the 500+ stitches in February:

If I worked on one project at a time I would get more done, but I am afraid I would get a little bored.

IHSW for February 2023

I managed to get some stitching time for the International Hermit and Stitch Weekend.

This is just a weekend to show progress on your pieces and if you are able, to spend a little extra time stitching.

First, I worked on Pour ta Fete and made it to the right edge:

I did a quick peek at my pattern and realized I still have quite a bit to do before the end of the year!

I spent some time with my Avlea Blue Larkspur:

Starting point:

Where I ended:

I love the red flowers:

And I got a bit done on my 17th Century Whitework sampler:

I started on the second big motif:

Working on Blue Larkspur

I really would love to have this  piece fully finished so I can use it. I have the perfect spot for it, if I ever get it done...

A little every week......

January 2023 WIPocalypse Post

Well, I'm running a few days behind on my check-in, but I have an excuse: I was visiting my mom in Albuquerque. I had a great time and ate some(but not enough) New Mexican food.

(Photo with my mom and younger sister)

Question for the month: What do you bring on retreats? I haven't attended a retreat in years. Hopefully I will this year, but I tend to bring too much. If I go this year, I will bring a light, a Mill Hill bead kit, a cross stitch project and a needlepoint, extra needles, cheap scissors, and Jelly Bellies.

I managed to stitch on a few pieces this month:

Gnome Santa is stitched!

I need to cut him out and attach the leaf and fully finish him, but he is done! Yipee!

Purrfect Santa:

I took this with me to Albuquerque and managed to get a little done on him.

Blue Larkspur:

I always think this would be a great travel piece, but it isn't. I really have to concentrate to stitch it. But I love it and am making progress.

Pour ta Fete:

I thought I would get a page finish on this one, but no such luck. Hopefully I can get to the right edge of the piece before the end of February.

Reptiles-HAED:

I managed 1000 stitches on my HAED! Hopefully I can get some extra work done on it again in February. I need to work on the bit that is confetti heavy.

Blue Larkspur

This piece has given me fits. For some reason I have a difficult time stitching it. But I am trying not to start another Avlea design until I finish it.

I made a mistake and had to rip a bunch out. Here is a more recent photo:
