Final WIPocalypse 2023

Well, I feel that my WIPocalypse for 2023 was a success.

Gnome Santa:I can't find a photo and he is off to the finisher. Here is what he looked like at the beginning of the year. (I will post a photo of him finished in 2024!)

Reptiles by Escher-Heaven and Earth Designs at the beginning of the Year:

And what it looks like now:

 Sampler Book by Erica Michaels:

 I'm to the letter K:

!7th Century Whitework Sampler and the Finish:

So I started the next one in the class:

Lizard Canvas:Finish!

Blue Larkspur by Avlea-Almost Done!

Pour ta Fete by Lindsey Lane Designs:

I have a mistake and need to pick it out so this is in time out!

I, of course, started new things and finished others, but this is long enough for now. Looking forward to 2024 to see what it brings!

WIPocalypse November 2023

It is time for another WIPocalypse post. You can find all the pertinent information at Melissa's blog

Her question this month is: What is your favorite way to finish ornaments and/or smalls? Truth be told, I have finishing projects so my favorite way is to send them to a finisher. Or do Mill Hill bead kits which I can finish on my own.

Here is what I have been stitching:

Susan Schlitcher 1845:

She calls to me and I have a hard time putting her away.

Dawn to Dusk:

Finished the Letter K for the Sampler Book:

And I did a small amount of work on my 17th Century Sampler:

An Embarrasment of WIPs

Ok, full disclosure. This was not a full display of all my WIPs, but it did show quite a few.

I'm not sure if the above will show the video, so here is the Link.

The good thing about doing this video was it made me rethink all my projects. What do I really want to accomplish? Do I really want to stitch some of the kits I have sitting in my basement?

June is Here!

Here in Illinois we are in summer mode. I swore I wasn't going to plant a garden, but somehow got talked into it.... We haven't had rain, so I have to water my tomato and pepper plants. I try to remind myself how delicious a fresh tomato tastes as I swat away the gnats and weed....

Here is my calendar for May:

I didn't stitch one day, but did make some progress on my projects.

There is a monthly challenge on the WIPocalypse group to do at least one stitch on a project for the month of June. I chose Pour ta Fete as I already give it attention pretty much every day.

This is the best photo of the whole thing:

I'm working on the upper right corner but plan to move to the bottom section soon. Still haven't decided what to do about the initials...

WIPocalypse Post May 2023

This is a fun Sal hosted by Melisa over at Measi's Musings

I messed up last month and answered the wrong question. The question this month is What project brings you the most joy and why? Hmmm. That is difficult for me as they all make me happy..But if I have to pick one, it would be my HAED:

I know I have tons of mistakes and I may never finish it, but I like making even a tiny bit of progress on it.

I have stitched a bit on Betsy Ross Needlebook:

Drawn Thread Sampler:

Finished Garden Chair:

Pour ta Fete:

I started a new Mill Hill:

And made progress on Shimmering Dreams:

Quite a bit of stitching!

WIPocalyplse Challenge for March

This is a place marker for me, more than a real post:

Plan on putting one stitch in this daily for the month of March.

January 2023 WIPocalypse Post

Well, I'm running a few days behind on my check-in, but I have an excuse: I was visiting my mom in Albuquerque. I had a great time and ate some(but not enough) New Mexican food.

(Photo with my mom and younger sister)

Question for the month: What do you bring on retreats? I haven't attended a retreat in years. Hopefully I will this year, but I tend to bring too much. If I go this year, I will bring a light, a Mill Hill bead kit, a cross stitch project and a needlepoint, extra needles, cheap scissors, and Jelly Bellies.

I managed to stitch on a few pieces this month:

Gnome Santa is stitched!

I need to cut him out and attach the leaf and fully finish him, but he is done! Yipee!

Purrfect Santa:

I took this with me to Albuquerque and managed to get a little done on him.

Blue Larkspur:

I always think this would be a great travel piece, but it isn't. I really have to concentrate to stitch it. But I love it and am making progress.

Pour ta Fete:

I thought I would get a page finish on this one, but no such luck. Hopefully I can get to the right edge of the piece before the end of February.

Reptiles-HAED:

I managed 1000 stitches on my HAED! Hopefully I can get some extra work done on it again in February. I need to work on the bit that is confetti heavy.

Venetian Delight

This WIP was started in 2004(?) and has not been touched since. I really need to search through my stash and find the threads.

As you can see, I still have a lot to do.
And there is another canvas that I have barely touched.

I would really like to re-frame this and get to work on this. We will see.

Mill Hill Bead Kits

I did a quick look through my projects and found these three started. I probably have more. Sigh. My goal is to get at least one of these done this year although I would love to get several finished.

Purrfect Christmas Santa:

Love Coffee:
Garden Chair:

Angel of Love

Well, I did not spend much time on this piece in 2022. Maybe she can get some attention in 2023.

MH 1656, My Beloved

This piece has been in time out. I need to decide what I'm going to do with her. I know I need to do some frogging as the band I'm working on is incorrect. The first photo shows where I currently am working:
This is a photo of what I have done so far...

Catherine Jordan Pieces

I have two unfinished Catherine Jordan pieces. I'm not sure I will touch them this year, but I wanted to post photos of them.

A Knot Garden:

Sad to say, but I'm not sure where my pattern is for this one.

Map Class:

And I think the instructions for this are on my computer....
