More on My Painted Canvas

Well, I managed to finish the body on the bearded dragon.

The huge triangle is a piece of ultra suede. It is the right color, but I need to figure out ruffles...

I thought I could do bullion knots with Patena thread by Rainbow Galleries. Nope.

So I played on the edge of my fabric with some cotton thread and I love the look(bottom photo), but it didn't work in the Patena either(above photo). So I need to see if I have something that is the right color for the pads of the gecko. With my stash, it should be easy.

TUSAL September 2022

Well, it is the New Moon and time for the TUSAL. Post a photo of your  orts and see how much (or little) stitching you have  completed.

I can tell I have been working on my lizard canvas. Someone asked if it was picked out for my son Sam. When I originally purchased it, no. I just liked the colors. But when I started stitching on it, I did think of him because he had a pet bearded dragon.

Background Done, Now on to the Bearded Dragon

Sorry if you don't like reptiles, but I need to share this piece. It is a painted canvas piece that I have had in my stash since 2003. It is time to get it done. I'm not sure I like the bearded dragon, but he is going to be stitched as is. No red markings will be added. I need to get his head and ruffles figured out and I have an idea. Time to execute said idea? Not so much.

I Must be Nuts, But We Already Knew That

I swore when I broke my knee cap that I would not can anything this year. Nothing. Nada. But then the tomatoes started ripening and no one came to pick them....So guess what I did? 16 quarts of tomatoes and 11 pints of salsa. Not all in one day mind you, but still.

My college kids are happy. My knee, not so much.

I took a hot second and stretched the crewel piece so I could fully finish it.

I love how it goes from wrinkled to smooth!

I also finished this piece from Stitched Stories

I can never remember the name of this kit, but it was a blast to stitch. (Full disclosure:Debbie gifted this to me after Fiber Talk  interviewed her.) I have purchased another kit that I hope to start on my next camping trip.

And just to bore you a little more, I fully finished one of my Inchies pieces from Kathy Reese .I took a Dorset Button class through Sassy Jack's September Soiree 2022 . The Soiree was fun as was the little workshop. If you can't travel to retreats, but would like to meet some stitching friends, I highly recommend Kim Young's Soiree. I'll take some pictures of my swag and share them soon.

A New Finish

I was camping with my husband and I managed to finish a piece:

It was a Petite Project by Judy Jeroy through the Embroidery Guild of America. It is crewel work which is a fun and relaxing technique.

Sampler September

There are several groups of people stitching samplers for the month of September. If you go to Instagram and follow these hashtags, you will find lots of temptations!

I have made some progress on Pour ta Fete and had thought I would try to finish it before the end of the year...It's good to have goals, right?

TUSAL for August

Well, the new moon has come and gone, but I still wanted to post for the Totally Useless SAL-show your orts!

And here they are:

I have another jar somewhere, but didn't take a photo. Oh well, maybe next month!
