Me? Knit?

Some ladies at my church started a knitting group.  It is something my dd wanted to try so I bought some Flounce at the local knitting store and one lady taught us how to start.  I started very slowly but my ds thought it looked interesting, so he took my scarf over.  Here is our progress in red:
Now this is what my dd has done!  She says it is the perfect length and needs help finishing it.  Over achiever!  Just joking!
No Spring Splendor as I need quiet time to work on it.  Looking at my schedule, it won't be this week.  Maybe if the boys go to youth group, I can escape then....

Slow Progress on Feathers

It has been a while since I posted.  Life has been crazy and it has been difficult even to find time to stitch.  I did get an extension for Softly Feathered.  It is my main piece and will continue to be until I get it done.

I went to the local bead store to purchase the beads I need for this piece.  I am afaid that what I purchased will not work.  My blues are hard to match.  I will have to find a DMC to delica bead chart and see what I can do.

I will post something on Spring Splendor soon.  Maybe even tomorrow!

Spring Splendor-Beginning

I am having a hard time with this piece.  The Eterna Silk on the butterfly wings will not lay smooth.  I need to look for some more information.  This will be a struggle for me.

Snow Globe Santa is Stitched!

I really enjoyed this fellow, even the Memory wire whiskers.  It is a pain to put in, but it adds a lot to the piece.  I will take this to my finisher as I do not want to mess him up.
I did work on Spring Splendor but not enough to share.  It requires full concentration on my part.  Hopefully I will get some work done and share it soon..

A Little Memory Wire

Snow Globe Santa is almost done.  I am adding the memory wire to his beard.  Janet  suggests sititching it through tracing paper, but I did not like that.
I have to put Softly Feathered aside so I can work on Spring Splendor.  I love both pieces, but Spring Splendor has me nervous.  Must be all those silks....Maybe I will have a photo of it tomorrow.

A few more feathers

Life has been very busy with teenagers about...I was able to add a few more feathers to my piece while waiting on them at a bridge building competition and then youth group.  I like the feathers look and am trying to lay my threads smoother.  Good practice for Spring Splendor which will be pulled out later this week.

Christmas Quilt Square or The Real Reason I Never Finish Projects

I cut off the last red in this photo, but it gives you an idea of my square.  I have been thinking about a Christmas quilt for my bed for years, but I finally decided that this is the year.  The red fabric on the left will have to go as it is directional and will be a pain to cut.  I thought the green fabric on the right would have to go, but I like it.  Cheryl suggested that I play with the square on the computer to see if I like the colors.  My picture isn't good enough for that so I am hoping she will scan it for me tomorrow.  (Please, please, please!) Just what I need, another project!

WIPacalypse February-Beth's Needlework

Noel Hear Mitten-Mill Hill Bead Kit

Snow Globe Santa-Janet Casey

Softly Feathered-Carol Algie Higginbotham
I do have a method behind my madness.  I try to work on a small project that I carry around-generally a Mill Hill Bead Kit, a medium project for "mindless" stitching and then a larger project that requires thought and time and good light.
I did not work on Solar Flare-my banner piece-at all this month.  It is on the back burner until I get Softly Feathered done or off to be critiqued.  Softly Feathered is taking more time than I thought it would.  Being sick did not help any.  But I will keep plugging away and hopefully it will get done soon.

Addicting

I keep working on this guy as counting is so difficult with this cold.  I will have to figure out what I am going to do about the hat brim.  The line was drawn a little off and I am afraid it will look funny with the hat behind the beard.  The left side of the beard may need to be removed and restitched.  Maybe after a nap.

Santa has Eyebrows

Before brushing

After brushing

I was able to add eyebrows to my Santa.  After they were done, I carefully brushed them and the mustache trying not to disturb my other stitching.  Now on to the hat!
I am trying to finish my Cityscape Hearts into ornaments.  Right now I am working on my white one.  Will try to post a picture when it is done.
