TUSAL February 2022

I ripped my threads from the Avlea design:

That made a pretty bowl of orts, didn't it?

Here is where I keep my orts for the year:

I will add to it all year and dump it out in December.

The TUSAL is the Totally Useless Stitch-a-long where you post a photo of your orts on the New Moon. Join the fun! Post a photo of your orts!

A Variety of Stitching

 What have I been stitching?

Well, this piece from Stitch Camp by Textile Artists.

Loads of fun and totally different.

And I have been stitching on Pour ta Fete:

Corrected my errors and am trying to finish the first page.

IHSW January 2022

Well, I noticed on Facebook that this past weekend was the International Hermit and Stitch Weekend. The idea is to stitch as much as you can during the third weekend of the month and post photos.

I mainly worked on Springhill by Rosewood Manor. Here is where I started:

And here is where I ended:

I think I stitched on this all last week and didn't take a photo on Friday. Oh well.  I did get some stitching done.

A Christmas Gift

My parents gave me some money at Christmas so when Mary Corbet announced that these were in her shop, I jumped at the chance. Home Sweet Home has  been on my wish list since it was first released over 10 years ago. The Design Collection by Inspirations Magazine is fantastic.

Mary did a review of both books which I highly recommend reading:

The Design Collection: Pincushions

Home Sweet Home

And then Mary talked to Gary over at Fiber Talk about it: HERE

If you are looking for the The Design Collection in the United States (Mary Corbet is sold out, I believe),. Cathe Ray may have a copy over at Needle in a Haystack

Teeny, Tiny Stitches

This is Pour ta Fete by Lindsay Lane Designs. I am working it on 53/63 with Soie Surfine threads.

I thought it might be fun to see me work through some issues:

I thought I was really zooming along last weekend:

Then I realized that the pages had an overlap that WASN'T marked!
And remember that blue alphabet? GONE!

So here I am today:
I like the red and the gold. Will decide later if I will add more colors.

Gifted Gorgeousness January 2022

Well, I worked a bit on my HAED, Reptiles.

Just a few hundred stitches, but progress is progress.

Oh! You might be wondering what is Gifted Gorgeousness? It is the brainchild of the lovely Jo over at Serendipitous Stitching . Anything that was a gift, is going to be a gift or has the word gift in it. Reptiles counts as I received it as a gift one Christmas.

January 2022 WIPGO Goals Met

I worked on Springhill by Rosewood Manor for 8 hours.

Here is my starting point:

And here is where I ended:

It was those big trees that took forever!

I also was able to get the plaited braid done on More Than a Rose:

I will spend the rest of the weekend working on my HAED. Maybe I will get enough done to post a progress photo tomorrow.

My New Start

Because I need something small to work on and I have quite the collection of Gay Ann Roger's hearts, I decided to pull out Purple Mountain Majesty, which is part of her Patriotic Heart series:

Not much of a start, but getting the outline done takes a bit.Hopefully I can work on this a bit each month and get one heart stitched this year.

Thank you for your kind words. I am still not sure what I will use for my travel project. But I am sure I have something in my stash that will work.

I Need to Rip

I made a mistake on this Avlea design-Blue  Larkspur. I can't fudge it so a motif must come out. I love this piece. The colors, the design are scrumptious, but I am having a terrible time stitching on it on the go. Since it is supposed to be my traveling project, I may have to dig through my stash and see what I can do instead. I need something without a lot of color changes, not too much counting and a large enough count to not mess with my eyeballs. Suggestions?

More Than a Rose-Plaited Braid!

Normally, I don't bother with a doodle cloth, but I knew I needed to practice this stitch before I put it on my piece.

I didn't have much trouble using the Perle Cotton, but using the gold wire required some fiddling. Hopefully it will work when I get to my piece. I used Mary Corbet's tutorial, which you will find HERE

TUSAL January 2022

Yesterday was the New Moon so it is time for the Totally Useless Stitch a Long. All you need to do is post a photo of your orts.

Here is my full jar from 2021:

And my wooden bowl that I use for stitching in my bedroom:

And now it is empty:

Well, there are a few orts at the bottom of the jar, but fairly empty!

A Bit of The Frog

I was humming along on Pour ta Fete by Linsey Lane Designs when I realized the entire letter C was in the wrong place:

Rip. Rip. Rip.

All better!
