WIPocalpse January 2024

Well, I am late, but I decided to post anyway. This is the wonderful idea of Melissa over at Measi's Musings . She asks us a question every month and this month is:

What is your oldest WIP?

Mine is Venetian Delight. I really would love to get back to this sometime. I need to take it off the stretcher bars and reframe it.

Here are the pieces I worked on this month:

Susan Schlitcher 1845:

Dawn to Dusk:

17th Century Whitework:

Modern Folk Embroidery:

Earth Spirals:

Earth Spirals-Terri Bay

Well, I have been calling this piece Elements. Why? Who knows? But I will tell you I am having fun stitching it.

It is a pulled needlework technique piece and I see lots of different ways to stitch this piece. I know I plan on stitching another, but I will take the time to put it on scroll rods to make it easier to stitch.

IHSW January 2024

Well, this is the third weekend of the month so we are supposed to try to stitch as much as possible. It was also the Winter Soiree, an online retreat from Sassy Jacks. (Kim is having three more of these weekends. Check out her newsletter or her website for more information!)

Here is my package from the Soiree:

I didn't start anything from it as I was trying to get some stitching done on my pojects.

I worked on Dawn to Dusk to find the correct colors for my background:

And after(above).

Reptiles-although I really had no urge to stitch on it.

After:

And finally Susan Schlitcher 1845:

I have such fantastic friends.

It is terribly cold here today and we have about a foot of snow on the ground. I did some snow dyeing and need to take some photos of the results. Will share with you soon.

Wool Piece

We were having some discussion as to when the local guild held a workshop for wool felting. My daughter was in the guild so probably 10 plus years ago. Anyway, I have been thinking about my piece and decided it would be perfect for keeping my travel mug warm. So I started playing with stitching:

I need to trim the edges, put a backing and closure on it and then it will be done. Fun!

WIPocalypse Introduction 2024

I have decided to join this fun SAL again this year. It is run by Melissa over at Measi Musing

The first post is to tell a bit about yourself, projects and goals.

I am an avid stitcher that enjoys many different techniques. I have tried most of them and like almost all of them. This year I pared down my WIPS as there were many I didn't even touch. This year I am going to try to focus on a few.

17th Century Whitework:

I want to get this done this year.

Harmony of Nature Casket:

I just want progress on this piece.

Dawn to Dusk by Textured Treasures:

I would like a finish on this one.

Susan Schlitcher 1845:

I am also aiming for a finish on her. I'm so close!

Modern Folk Embroidery 2024 SAL:

This is going to be a two year project. It's a beast!

Sampler Book by Erica Michaels:

Doing this with my guild and we are on Letter L and M in January. I will try to keepup.

I am sure I will be adding things along the way, but these are the ones I plan on focusing on.

People's Choice _Designer of the Year

Jo over at Serendipitous Stitching has been hosting the People's Choice SAL for years. I rarely joined as I didn't have things that fit the theme or I forgot to post. This will be the last one for a bit so I thought I would join in.

Who is my Designer of the Year? The one I really am looking forward to stitching?

It would be Thistle Threads as I have two of Trisha's pieces that I want to finish.

WIPGO 2024

I had a huge fail on WIPGO when I tried it in 2022. This year I decided to try something different.

I mixed the numbers around and placed them on my board. I have a list of items to stitch to the left. Each month I need to put at least one strand or an hour(depending on the piece) into the projects. If I finish a project, I can put another WIP on the board or start a new project. Here is my list:

Susan Schlitcher 1845 :

Dawn to Dusk:

Sampler Book:

17th Century Whitework (1 hour)

Casket( 1 hour)

Reptiles-HAED:

MFE 2024 SAL:

Terri Bay Earth Spiral:(This is a class that is part of Cyberpointers .)

January 2024 Start

Well, Kim at Sassy Jacks Stitchery "talked" me into starting Modern Folk Embroidery's 2024 SAL, No Time Like The Present:

Here is my start:

I'm using Pink Chocolate 40 count linen from BeStitchMe along with her silks: Brick, Light Roast and Nebula:

It is divided into 10 months, but each section has a lot of stitching. Hopefully, I can keep up each month.
