Friends

The other day I had an Embroidery Guild of America meeting. I try to attend both the day and night, if I can. I had brought my Lotus Box to see if I could find the mistake in the piece. When I mentioned to a gal that it had a mistake that I needed to find, she said she was good at finding mistakes. Perfect!

 I can't circle it, but I made a mistake in the cable stitch. Sigh. Now do I rip it or start on another piece? I need two EXACTLY the same to make the box so something has to give. Thanks Lynne for finding my error. I really do appreciate it.

And did any of you read the post by Mary Corbet about storing Tulip needles? Tulip Needles
I found it quite interesting but resisted buying a pack of Q-tips just to store my needles. Went to the evening meeting and my friend handed me this:

How sweet! Now I need to get my Tulip needles from where I stuck them and place the bottles in my holder. Fabulous! Thanks Mary!

I have plans to stitch something to do with needles, but I haven't pulled threads or linen yet. And I must finish something before I start ANYTHING new. Ha!

A Bee

A friend asked me to show her how to stitch a bee using Sue Spargo's book   Creative Stitching    . Great book! But I thought I should try it before I tried to teach her. After all, it needs bullion knots! Here is my attempt on a piece of denim:

I used a Tulip needle and it was much easier to make the bullion knots. Here is a link to Mary Corbet where she discusses them:

Yes, I would recommend them. I ordered some with a friend. If I did not get the other sizes of milliners, I will be ordering some. The one I used was wonderful.
 I think I will be pulling out Reptiles. A friend and I were discussing rotations and I may be changing mine up next week. We will see. Have a great weekend!

New Stuff

The International Quilt Festival in Chicago had a display by Sue Spargo.

Aren't they fun? I love stitching on wool and have a few things (cough, cough) to stitch. I have been really wanting to stitch one of Sue's pieces with my Colour Complements threads.

 I have been buying wool from   Wool Lady  . I have the stuff! Now I need the time.
 But what did I purchase? One thing is this book:

It is fabulous! Great charts and some stitches I have never seen. Perfect for my crazy quilting. I would highly recommend this book.

I also bought some Tulip Needles. Mary Corbet did a review of them so I will not bore you with where to get them, etc. But I will tell you that I love them! I have been stitching Tall Year Squared using one strand of Glorianna silk floss and even using my John James needles, the silk was shredding. Fine. I figured it was me. I pulled one of the Tulip tapestry needles and it was FABULOUS! No more shredding. But they are pricey. $1.25 each. Not cheap, but so worth it. I am saving my pennies and buying some more. I think I may be able to talk a friend  to join me in my madness. We will see.

I also bought some (red) threads but it is too cloudy today to take a photo. Trust me, they have sparkle.
