People's Choice _Designer of the Year

 Jo over at Serendipitous Stitching has been hosting the People's Choice SAL for years. I rarely joined as I didn't have things that fit the theme or I forgot to post. This will be the last one for a bit so I thought I would join in.

Who is my Designer of the Year? The one I really am looking forward to stitching?

It would be Thistle Threads as I have two of Trisha's pieces that I want to finish.

The People's Choice- January 2023

I have quite a few of her kits that haven't been started along with several that I have started.

People's Choice February-Snow

I really don't like snow. Well, I like it if I am inside drinking coffee and stitching. Other than that, YUCK!

I don't have any new snow photos to share. So I will share this one:

I was at the car dealership the other day waiting for my car to be serviced. It was supposed to snow where I live, but thanks be to God it went south of us! Just a few miles to our east and south received 10 inches!!!

People's Choice for March

  Jo over at Serendipitous Stitching hosts this SAL on the first weekend of every month. This month the prompt is SPRING!  

I personally am so ready for spring.

A few weeks ago this is what it looked like close to my house. No flowers yet, but the snow is melting and the temperatures are above freezing. I will take it!

My piece for the month is Springhill. I am making progress on this piece:

I decided to do Montenegrin stitch on the row under the big vine. It is good practice and I like the texture.

There was some discussion on whether to stitch the eyelets on the vine or if it would be nice to do Jessicas. I like the Jessicas and I know how to stitch them, but do I really want to mess with them? I think a smyrna cross would look good too. And I have an urge to put a french knot in the center of every jessica....What would you do?

People's Choice for April

The first weekend of the month Jo at Serendipitious Stitching hosts a SAL where we choose the topic each month. It is called the People's Choice SAL.

This month we are discussing Modern Samplers. I think the ones put out by Linen and Threads 
count as Modern Samplers.

People's Choice-Penguins

 

If you go over to   Jo's Blog you will see on the first Saturday of every month a post called People's Choice. She has a vote on a subject and then we are to find things we stitched (or want to stitch) and make a post about it. This month is Penguins. I didn't think I had anything with penguins, but then realized my son had stitched this Mill Hill Kit ages ago.

Jo hosts this SAL over at     Serendipitous Stitching      .  She has been letting us choose what theme we want for each month for quite a while. A year maybe? Anyway, this month is winter.
I do a lot of Christmas but then I remembered this little Mill Hill kit I stitched a few years ago.

People's Choice for November

Serendipitous Stitching

This is a great SAL! Every month there is a new theme and this month the theme is Autumnal Colors.
I had big plans of finishing something to post, but life got in the way.
I do love fall colors. Look at this pile of leaves...

People's Choice for August

Jo over at Serendipitous Stitching hosts this SAL where each month we post on a different theme.

This month it is monochrome.I had hoped that I would have been able to start a new piece by today, but no such luck. But I do have a monochromatic project to show you!

Not much progress, but I am trying to work on it a little each week.
Do you like monochromatic projects? I have a few in my stash that are calling my name, but I am trying to resist! Linda do not tempt me!

Trying to Catch-Up

Jo over at Serendipitous Stitching reminded me about the Totally Useless Stitch-a-long or TUSAL. Daffy Cat is hosting this but has been very quiet. Anyway, all you need to do is post an image of your orts. It is fun to see everyone's little bits and pieces...

Jo is also hosting The People's Choice SAL which you can find at the above link. This month is finishing. I do have a lot of finished pieces although I have a lot in my basement that need to be fully finished!
I like to finish things as notebooks so that I can see them every day as take notes. I can't remember the designers name or the patterns, but they are canvas pieces.

 I also have a thing for hearts, especially ones by Gay Ann Rogers. Here are two that are finished.

I am working on one now, but it isn't ready to be FFOed yet. Soon though!

F is for Christmas? And The People's Choice SAL

 Well, my Christmas stocking is called the First Christmas stocking.

 I have been putting one length of backstitching every day. If I get it all done before the end of the month, I will start adding more cross stitches.

 The wonderful Jo from Serendipitous Stitching hosts a once a month stitch a long that we are choosing the topics for each month. This month is specialty stitches. I do love specialty stitches which is why I have crazy quilt projects in various stages of completion.

This is block 5 for my 2020 Crazy Quilt challenge. It needs a lot more work and I wonder if I will be able to complete the challenge, but I am using it for the 100 Day Project .

First Saturday in March!

It is time for the People's Choice SAL. Jo over at Serendipitous Stitching hosts this where the people get to choose what the theme is for each month. This month it is freebies.

I had great plans to stitch something up for this SAL. I thought it would be fun to make another small like the Valentine ones I stitched last month:

The larger one is from The Scarlett House and the other from Heart in Hand.

But I never took the time to stitch it up. I am sure I have some things that were free charts over the years, but where they are and what they are is another question.

But there is a free chart that I really want to start. It is the Linen and Threads 2017 Mystery Sampler. You can find the information here .I may even have the linen and threads to start this. I am trying to behave, which is very unusual.

People's Choice SAL HEARTS!

I love it that Jo has so many great SAL's during the year. This one is to be posted the first weekend of every month and we vote on the themes. This month is hearts for Valentine's Day, I am sure.

I have quite the collection of hearts that I stitched  from   Gay Ann Rogers . Here are a few:

People's Choice for January-New Start?

Jo is hosting this SAL over at her blog Serendipitous Stitching  . She hosts a lot of great stitch a longs and blog hops, so make sure you check her out. This one changes every month and we are choosing by a poll on Facebook what the theme will be every month. Hence the name:

This month is new starts. I have PLANS to start a new project in January, but haven't done so yet. One thing that is calling me is the 2017 Mystery Sampler by Linen and Threads:

It is free on their webpage and yes there was one for 2018... I have included a link in case you need to see the patterns.

I have other projects I had planned on starting, but that 2017 sampler is gorgeous! I have seen several people post images of it and I love it. I think there are all sorts of colorways that would be fabulous. So should I find fabric and threads and start? Which one?

Dragons

When   Jo  announced that dragons was the theme for the People's Choice SAL in December, I had to laugh. When my oldest was a young child, he loved dragons. He would make up imaginary ones and tell us what they sounded like. He had a toy dragon that he loved. It is in the basement somewhere....
Anyway, one year I decided to make him a Christmas stocking. He wanted a dragon on it. This is around the year 1999. No dragon stockings. So he drew a picture of one and helped me pick the stitches for a counted canvas piece.

Yes, the colors are that bright.(Please ignore the mess in the background!)He helped me choose the colors and  all the stitches. I was close to being done when he told me the dragon was in a cave with lots of gold coins. So AFTER I had done most of the stitches, I had to paint the background black. Luckily my SIL had some coin charms that I could use and I was set.


Here is another dragon that I did stitch for him that is hanging on the wall in his bedroom. I don't know the designer or the year I stitched it, but it is a dragon!

Let the People Choose-Birthstones

Got to love Jo over at Serendipitous Stitching. She has a lot of great stitch-a-longs to keep things interesting. The first Saturday of the month is her new one called-Let the People Choose! Just a way to share blogs and meet fellow bloggers.

Anyway, this month's theme is Birthstones. There are interesting monthly stitching pieces that have birthstones in them. I used to have a few needle rolls with different months and gems. Wonder where they are?

My birth month is July so my birthstone is ruby. I think that is why I love red so much. I have a few needlepoint pieces in my stash that I hope to stitch someday in my favorite colorway. But here are a few that I have stitched and shown at various times:
