Not as Much as I Had Hoped

I thought I would do more on this, but I put this down and hardly stitched on it. Maybe in September? (I can hear some of you laughing.....)
Canning season is upon me and I have a lot going on in September, but I can dream, right?

New Blanket

I realized that I never showed you the blanket I am crocheting for my daughter!
Here is the beginning:
Above is the yarn she chose. I tried to crochet it with the hook in the second photo, but it did not work at all! So Amazon to the rescue with a HUGE crochet hook.
Then I quickly realized I did not have enough yarn so I ordered more and waited for it to come in. This is where it is now:

I can crochet a row a night, but after that I am done. It hurts my hands to hold so I am slowly working on it. It must be done by September 20th. Maybe?

The Frog Stitch

The Butterfly I showed in my last post had a big mistake. When I discovered it, I debated on whether to rip it out or throw the whole piece away. I did sleep on it and decided to keep it. It took me several evenings but I finally got it ripped out. Then I restitched the section and here it is now:
It is fun to stitch and I like seeing the swirls emerge.
Now back to canning salsa!

Gifted Gorgeousness for August

Jo over at       Serendipitous Stitching  has a monthly SAL where we show things that we received as gifts, are giving as gifts or that fit into the gift category...
I have been trying to work on this butterfly as I think it would make a lovely postcard.
I must remember to avoid stitching over one...At least if I want it to be an "easy, take-a-long " project.

August IHSW

It was International Hermit and Stitch Weekend last weekend and I managed to work on my Uncle Sam's Hat.
Here is the last photo I showed you:
I did the white stripe awhile ago, but never showed you...Here is where I started on Friday:
I ran out of the correct color of Neon Rays and did not have an exact match in my stash. I did have something close, so this is where I stopped on Sunday.
Then I got ambitious and did the little spots in the red stripe and started the next white stripe on Monday. That is why there were so many red bits in my ort jar!

TUSAL August

Well, I am behind in my posts, but I was busy last week with all my college kids heading off to school. It is very quiet around here, that is for sure. I am not sure I will get much stitching done as the garden has decided to start producing.
Just to let you know  Daffy Cat    hosts this Totally Useless Stitch-a-Long where we show our orts for the month.
Lots of red in my jar....

Ugly Blanket Finish

This stitched up fast! I do love how the yarn feels and everyone who has touched it loves the weight of it.
I should measure it, but it is long and cozy. Now I have 3 days to get my daughter's blanket done. Yikes!

Going a Little Crazy...

Life is busy around here. Daughter is getting ready to go to college and I have my guys coming back for a week visit. The garden is producing like crazy and I am trying to get ready for a class in the fall. Hmmm. I think I will go take a nap after I post this.
Because life is a little busy, I decided to finish the last little angel on my Drawn Thread Sampler and put it away, at least until I have an empty nest. Hopefully, the desire to work on it will keep me from diving head first into a bowl of ice cream!
(I was in a hurry to take a photo which is why it is yellow rather than white.)

I am trying to NOT buy a sampler from Hands Across the Sea. It is the new one that is reversible. But I am such a slow stitcher that I will have to live forever to get done what I DO own. Sampler Information

A nap. I need a nap. Although chocolate chip cookies sound good right now too!

Ugly Blanket

My daughter wants a blanket for her dorm. She is a little particular so I knew I would have to do a practice blanket. I found this yarn on clearance at Michael's and found enough to make a HUGE blanket for my husband.
The stripes are coming out strange as it is meant to be made into a baby blanket.
The colors are also a little strange. I wish the baby blue wasn't in there, but oh well. It is warm and will be huge!
