WIP Drawn Thread Sampler

First, thank you Pamela for the idea for making my blocks into a quilt. I think my library has a log cabin book which talks about making wonky blocks...It might help too. Please remember, I really don't sew or quilt much so things lining up is a bit of a challenge for me.

Speaking of things lining up, I made a mistake counting a row of my sampler:

It is hard to see in the above photo, but can you see it below?

I decided not to rip the row out. Why? I noticed that some of the threads I wrapped were thin and I am afraid of breaking them. Yes, I could repair it, but I don't think it is worth the effort. I think I can get a mat to cover the mistake.
What about you? Would you rip it out or leave it?

This Stitcher is So Slow!

I am sure most people who signed up for Gay Ann Roger's Drawn Thread Sampler are done and have moved on by now. Not me! I am as slow as molasses!
Here is what it looked like on May 31:
This is where I am today:
It took me several evenings of lots of stitching and ripping and stitching to get this far. Now I can't find my master photo of the piece to see what I need to do next. Although I may do the little bits that are between the small squares. Oh! And it looks like I need to do the four-sided stitch around all of them too...Do you think I can finish this by next March? I am beginning to wonder.

Two Finishes and Some Starts

I finally finished Heirloom Stitching Sampler.  I took these terrible pictures so I could run it to the framer.

This little owl was started January 26 and finished the 27th.  I cannot find the designer in my mess, but I used it to teach some high school teens how to stitch.

I ended up ordering AW 1662 with floss and it came in very quickly.  It is my start(cough, cough) for January 27.
The last piece is Reptiles by Escher which is a Heaven and Earth Designs.  I am going to start basting the grid on it today.

Some Progress on my Sampler

I haven't started anything new today, but I have a plan.  I wanted to share my Heirloom Sampler progress while we have some sunlight...
I can see all sorts of mistakes, but I am going to keep going.I think I just have the one side to fill and then it is on to beads...

Day 6-Work in Progress Wednesday

This one needs to get done soon!
I cannot find the picture I took of this with some of the filling done.  Computers!  And I really should go clean my house, so I will just post this.  It is getting closer to being done.  After I get this section done I need to go back and find where all the beads go.

Ready to Fill

I was able to cut the threads for my hardanger section but I am still a little too stressed to do the filling sections. Maybe after this weekend.

Heirloom-Not Much Progress

I have not made much progress on this as I made a mistake and had to reverse stitch.  Better now than when cutting!  I am sooooo close on this one, but it requires more concentration than I can give it right now.  My dd is in a musical at church and needs a Victorian style dress.  Guess who is making it?  Will post a picture of it when I am done.

WIP-Heirloom Stitching Sampler

I am on the last row of this piece.  It is Hardanger and will take me a while to finish.  I am also debating on how I will finish this piece.  Framed?  Bell pull?  But that is a ways away as I need to go back and put the beads on too.

WIP-The Last Verse

I am so close!  I worked on this with some friends this afternoon.  I think I inspired someone to restart hers!

Heirloom Sampler Fix

I finished my people band and went back and fixed the row above.  I like it better and think I can move on to the next row.

WIP Wednesday-Heirloom Sampler

Sorry this is such a bad picture, but I wanted to post something!  I am close to finishing this row of people and they are close to the bottom of the piece.  I think I need to remove the bands above them though.  The maroon is not working for me.  I need to look through my stash and see what I have.  I need an ecru ribbon or piece of lace.....

Mistake Fixed

This was my first try at fixing my mistake.  I thought I I did coral knots and wove around them, it would look nice. But that didn't quite work so I thought I would do coral knots in a pattern:
After ripping it out twice because my stitching was so uneven, I decided I did not like how it looked.
Redid the coral knots in Grandeur, a silk pearl #5 and then did a twisted weave too on either side of the coral knots.  I like how that looks.  Not perfect, but much better.  My ground fabric was starting to fray and I needed to stop messing with it.
I started the last row of people in this sampler.  Still have 5 "rows" after that, but I think this will get done before the challenge is over in January!

WIP Working on Row 28

This row is taking me a bit longer than I expected.  Last night I stitched the flower and I wasn't sure I liked it.  Feel better about it this morning.

Read All Instructions-WIP

I did not read my instructions and was happily stitching the partial rice stitch when I realized I needed to do the legs in a different color.  It looks ok in the green, but the red looks better.
I am getting excited about this piece as I can see the end!

A Different Stitch

I have decided to try to get some serious work done on this piece.  I spent the last few nights working on it.  Have you ever heard of the Quodibet Stitch? It was new to me...  It is the row of stitches above the white satin stitch at the bottom of the picture. Looks like an eyelet to me...
Have a great weekend!

A Little Heirloom Progress

I have been out of the country and when I returned, I did not feel like touching Elizabeth.I am blaming jet lag.  I got together with my local guild and was able to finish another band on my sampler.
I hate to say this, but I lost a piece of needlework while traveling.  It was just a small stitch n' zip piece...Makes me sad, but also glad that I did not take a more important piece to stitch.

Heirloom Sampler- A Few Words

Not much progress, but I hope to finish this verse tonight along with the flowers that go in the band.

I have joined the A to Z Challenge in April.  My goal is to post once a day, except Sundays, on something related to needlework...Let's see if I succeed.

Heirloom Stitching-People In

I was so happy when I got this row finished!  The next one is a lot more fun and then some more words.
