What to do when it snows...

We have gotten a bit on snow where I live and I decided to take advantage of it.  I had ice dyed fabric at the local library.  My dd joined me in my dyeing that day and we decided one piece needed more dye.  (Look at the end of this post.)  I added rust orange and pale yellow Procion dyes on top of the snow and waited to see what happened.

My favorite piece that I have done recently is the piece on the right.   Looks like Monet's garden.  Will I be able to cut it?  The redyed piece looks better in person, but it is very orange.  It will be for the back of a quilt some day.  Hope you find a way to enjoy the snow.

WIP Wednesday- A Finish!

Miss Chessies' Tuffet is done!  I love biscornus.  They are fun to stitch and to finish.

I have a strong urge to start a totally new and different project that is not on my Crazy list.....I will resist, for tonight, but only because I am going to church and need something easy to work on while I listen to a lecture.  But Thursday is a different story!

Buzzy Day Progress

Since I have almost finished my other carry along projects, I have restarted this Mill Hill Bead Kit.  It has a lot of different parts and I hope to get it done before spring arrives.

Miss Chessie's Tuffet Stitched!

I finished stitching the back of the biscornu last night.  I did more than originally called for because I thought it would look pretty when finished.  I need to wash and press it and then hopefully get it all finished before next Friday.  My local library is having a show and it is one of the few pieces I have done that I can put in it.

Here is my progress on Spring Splendor:
I like my top crabapple blossom but wish I could redo the other two.  May have to go back and do them when I get it back from being critiqued.  Right now, it will have to stay.  Too much more to stitch!

Santa Heart Finished!

All the beads are in and this project is done.  I love Janet Zickler Casey Santa's. She has a  beautiful gingerbread cottage that I would love to stitch.  I think Cyberpointers will do it as a workshop this year.  Will have to save my pennies....

Santa's Got His Beard

All that is left are a few beads.  I will try to get another Santa done before I take this to my finisher.  Once I get him done, he will be my third finish of the year!  Only 28 more.....

WIP-crabapple leaves

I think I put all the leaves around the blossoms, but while stitching last night, I snagged the top blossom and disturbed a stitch.  Yes, it is very noticeable and it must come out.  Since that flower is the wrong color anyway, I don't mind restitching it too much.  But after it is in, I plan on finishing as much as possible of this section and covering it with plastic wrap.  I like to see what I have stitched!

As far as the stitch for the beard for Santa Heart: it is so easy, you will laugh.  It looks almost like turkey work or maybe even  french knots, but it is just a couched thread.  I do not like to couch, but this is so easy!  The instructions call for Fluffy Fleece which I did not have so I substituted a specialty yarn from Patons called Allure.  It is coming out very fluffy; my father-in-law had a beard like it at one point and all the kids thought he was Santa.  (Great fun at grocery stores.)

Santa is getting a Beard

This is Janet Zickler Casey's Santa Heart.  He is fun to stitch although I haven't given him much time.  Hopefully he will get the rest of his beard soon.

WIP Wednesday-Some Crabapple Buds

I was able to finish a little more on my Spring Splendor.  The little burgundy circles took an hour and a half.  They are fairly smooth and fairly round.  One more of them and then I will work on leaves.

Happy February

Here are two hearts that I finally took to the finisher.  They are Gay Ann Rogers' designs.  The one on the left is Heart of Elizabeth and the one on the right is Tiny Bit of Love.  My kids still keep asking if the Elizabeth one is getting a head...
