WIPocalypse Progress April

I am making some progress on Softly Feathered.  Time always seems to be in short supply.  Hopefully I will get some time to work on this today.  But the garden is calling and my DS needs me to go with to check on bees.  No progress on any other project, but when Softly is done....

Soflty Feathered in danger of Alien Abduction

I keep working on Softly Feathered.  It is a fun piece, but I am ready to move to something else.  Do you know the feeling?  A piece is close to being done, but it seems to be taking forever!!  Maybe that is why I have so many UFO's.  (Which is the reason for the title for this blog...My ds's sense of humor.)

Building Blocks are Done

After several tries, I was able to figure out that there was a mistake on the chart.  It wasn't me!  Carol was nice and sent me a free pattern.  I look forward to stitching it.  I love the next stitch which is Byzantine.  Now I need to serious look for beads and get all the tent stitch done in the middle.

Slow Progress on Feathers

It has been a while since I posted.  Life has been crazy and it has been difficult even to find time to stitch.  I did get an extension for Softly Feathered.  It is my main piece and will continue to be until I get it done.

I went to the local bead store to purchase the beads I need for this piece.  I am afaid that what I purchased will not work.  My blues are hard to match.  I will have to find a DMC to delica bead chart and see what I can do.

I will post something on Spring Splendor soon.  Maybe even tomorrow!

A few more feathers

Life has been very busy with teenagers about...I was able to add a few more feathers to my piece while waiting on them at a bridge building competition and then youth group.  I like the feathers look and am trying to lay my threads smoother.  Good practice for Spring Splendor which will be pulled out later this week.

Softly Feathered-Carol Algie Higginbotham
I do have a method behind my madness.  I try to work on a small project that I carry around-generally a Mill Hill Bead Kit, a medium project for "mindless" stitching and then a larger project that requires thought and time and good light.
I did not work on Solar Flare-my banner piece-at all this month.  It is on the back burner until I get Softly Feathered done or off to be critiqued.  Softly Feathered is taking more time than I thought it would.  Being sick did not help any.  But I will keep plugging away and hopefully it will get done soon.

Feather One Done

I managed to finish outlining all the feathers on Softly Feathered yesterday.  I even managed to get one feather done!  I need to be more careful laying my threads so as to get better coverage.  Hopefully I will get to work on it more later today.  Still coughing and it is difficult to concentrate.  May end up working on something else so as not to do too much ripping.

What I am Stitching

Softly Feathered by Carol Algie Higginbotham is my big piece right now.  I am having a terrible time counting it.  Hopefully it will go faster when I start putting the stitches in the feathers.
This little guy is my take along piece.  He is the Pine Tree Snow Charmer by Mill Hill.  I can see why my dd has claimed him.

January 5-Softly Feathered

For those who are keeping count, this was not on my original list of Crazy January Challenges.

This is Softly Feathered by Carol Algie Higginbotham, a group correspondence course through Cyberpointers.    Here is the problem:  it is due in 2 months if I get an extension and it is a huge piece.  15 by 20.   Will I get it done?
