Some New Projects

So, I couldn't help myself. I started two new projects. Well, one isn't really new but a continuation of the 17th Century Whitework class I am taking with some frieds.

But first, Jane Turner by The Essaplaire:

Why, you may ask? Why start a new sampler that looks like My Beloved?

Because Gary Parr over at FiberTalk started his. Or at least he said he was going to start his..

I'm going to change colors and use Vikki Clayton silks:

The other piece is the second sampler from the 17th Century Whitework class. We originally started it on Sycamore Seedpod which is 53/60 count linen with Soie Goblin. I was really struggling with it so I was able to change over to 45 count Foxtail Millet and I love how it looks:

IHSW-June 2023

Well, it is the weekend to hermit and stitch. Will have to see how much I actually get done.

Here are my starting points:
Pour ta Fete:

I have a little left to get a page finish on my HAED:
I want to work on my Quaker Hornbook:
I finished one, but it is too small for the hornbook:
What are you stitching this weekend?

Today Is Gifted Gorgeousness!

Well, it is the 15th and we celebrate gifts of the stitchy kind. This is Jo's SAL and you can find more information on her blog, Serendipitous Stitching

Here is my progress on Pour ta Fete:

See the area I circled?
That is where there are 3 initials. I really think I will add my maternal grandmother's initials there. But first I need to finish that motif in the corner...

This Should be Easy

I have been working on this for a bit and I enjoy it so much that I'm thinking about stitching it in blue also. If I do  length of thread a day, I should be done soon, right? Famous last words...

Shimmering Dreams -A Section Done!

I had to rip this section out three times before I was happy. Next up is the couched border.

Pour Ta Fete Thoughts

Jo from Serendipitous Stitching asked if I was giving any more thought on initials.

Well, I am wondering about changing the huge initials in the piece to my maternal grandmother's initials and then adding all my maternal aunts initials. My mom was the oldest of 13 children and for some reason all the girls names had Mary in them. (Probably a Hispanic/Catholic thing.) Anyway, I know I have a document with their names somewhere or I can pick my mom's brain. She is 90, but very sharp.

But what do you think? I would love to commemorate my maternal family that way.

Here is the section I am currently stitching away on:

June is Here!

Here in Illinois we are in summer mode. I swore I wasn't going to plant a garden, but somehow got talked into it.... We haven't had rain, so I have to water my tomato and pepper plants. I try to remind myself how delicious a fresh tomato tastes as I swat away the gnats and weed....

Here is my calendar for May:

I didn't stitch one day, but did make some progress on my projects.

There is a monthly challenge on the WIPocalypse group to do at least one stitch on a project for the month of June. I chose Pour ta Fete as I already give it attention pretty much every day.

This is the best photo of the whole thing:

I'm working on the upper right corner but plan to move to the bottom section soon. Still haven't decided what to do about the initials...
