Wipocalpse 2020 for August

This lovely SAL is brought to you by Melissa.

You are supposed to work on your WIPS like the world is going to end in 2020. This year has been rather odd....

Here are the WIPs I worked on since July, in no particular order:

My Beloved, MH 1656:

Autumnal Abstractions-Finished!

Inchies by Kathy Rees
Enchanted Pumpkin by Mill Hill

Antique Scissors and Spools by Kitten Stitcher

And Royal Garden by Debbie Rowley:

Melissa always asks a question and this month it is as follows:

Have you participated in any of the mystery SALs on Facebook (or other social media)? What do you think makes a successful mystery SAL?

I am currently part of Linen and Threads Mystery SAL and miracle of miracles, I have stayed caught up!

Well, I need to add initials but I had planned to wait until the end for those. Probably a bad idea.

I have done several with ANG and taught them to my local guild. Not sure what makes them successful. I really think it depends more on the person who is stitching the SAL than the designer. Unless the designer never finishes the mystery, which is another problem all together!

FiberTalk

I know not many of us blog, but I feel like I need to get back to it. Fiber Talk has been taking my time and I am trying to do a video for my local guild for our Inchies project and there is THE GARDEN! Whine, whine whine. Anyway, I find looking at my blog and photos of things I have done much more rewarding than finding them on Instagram. My goal is to just put more posts up.

I am going to include links to Fiber Talk. It feels weird in a lot of ways to promote it since I am helping co-host. But I do like listening. If it isn't your cup of tea, scroll on by.

To Watch on YouTube

The one I feel that most of you will find interesting is the  show by the Embroiders Guild of Australia, which take place on September 2 at 8:00 pm Eastern Time.

It will be on the  Fiber Talk Channel

You will be able to ask the artists questions since the show will be live! (You will be able to go back and watch the recording too.) Since  Gallery 76 is in Sydney, Australia, I know I could not see it in person. This will be the next best thing.

I'm So Stupid!

I did not like the variegation on the this fabric with the over-dyed thread. So I pulled a solid DMC out and started stitching. ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE FABRIC!

I really like the brighter side of the fabric so I will be ripping tonight!  I need to get a WIPocalpse post up this weekend. And my garden is calling me....

Pushing Forward

I have made some serious progress on this piece. The plan is to stitch on it with Gary on Fiber Talk

this Wednesday night. We will see how much I get stitched.

A Little Start

But I will be ripping this out. I dyed this fabric; I think it is Monaco. I also dyed the floss, but I don't like how it looks. I think I will start again with a solid thread-dark grey, perhaps?

A Little Bit of A Finish

Does this count as a finish? Can I start a new project?

Ok. So August is stitched and I need to add initials eventually.....

Fiber Talk Live

I don't share information about the show too often, but many of you follow Dima on her D1D2 blog.

She is our guest on Fiber Talk Live tonight August 21 at 8:00 pm Eastern. Sorry that I am just posting this but I just got home from a little vacation.

Gifted Gorgeousness for August

Well, I was wondering what I could post for this month when I realized this piece was a gift I gave myself for my birthday in July:

Gifted Gorgeousness is the brainchild of Jo

You post anything that can count as a gift.  Have a great weekend!

This is Addicting!

I have been working on this a little every night and I hate to put it away. I really should be working on My Beloved by HATS, but I honestly could not think about tackling the Montenegrin Stitch today.

I even enjoy ironing the Neon Rays!

A Little Cross Stitch

I always forget how crazy August and September are with having a garden.  So I decided to focus on finishing this piece:

It has been my carry along with me piece, but I am ready to get it finished.

I won't only be working on it, but I will be stitching on it daily to move it forward.

A Little Bit of Needlepoint

Well, I now  remember why counted canvas is my favorite type of needlework. It goes so much quicker and has such fun stitches!
The above is Royal Garden by Debbie Rowley. Lots of fun, but I think I will run out of the floss I used on the scotch stitches.

Below is Inchies by Kathy Rees. If I wasn't leading my local guild in stitching this, it would be done. I have made lots of silly mistakes, but I do enjoy stitching this.
